Your iPhone Duo.
Now it's the remote.

Zap turns your iPhone Duo into a full remote for any Google TV or Android TV. It talks to the TV over your Wi-Fi, so there is nothing to point and nothing to plug in.

How it works

A full TV remote on your iPhone Duo

Nothing to set up

Zap is a universal iPhone app, so it runs on iPhone Duo straight from the App Store. Open it and it finds your TV on the same Wi-Fi.

No line of sight

Zap reaches your TV over the network instead of infrared, so it works from anywhere in the room — even with the TV behind a cabinet door.

Type instead of hunting letters

Search YouTube or Netflix with the phone keyboard rather than nudging one letter at a time with a D-pad.

Ready?

Turn your phone into the remote.

Free on the App Store. Open, connect, done.

iPhone Duo and your TV

iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable iPhone: a 5.4-inch screen on the outside and a 7.6-inch one when you open it. Whichever you are looking at, the job of a TV remote is the same — reach the TV and press the right button. Zap does that over Wi-Fi rather than infrared, so there is no pointing and no dongle, and the TV answers from across the room. It works with any television running Google TV or Android TV, which covers most Sony, TCL, Hisense, Xiaomi and Philips smart TVs, plus Chromecast with Google TV and NVIDIA Shield. If the physical remote has gone missing between the cushions, your phone is a complete replacement: D-pad, OK, back, home, volume, power, playback and a keyboard for search.

Before you start

Which TVs work
Any TV running Google TV or Android TV — most Sony, TCL, Hisense, Xiaomi and Philips smart TVs, plus Chromecast with Google TV and NVIDIA Shield. Samsung, LG and Roku use different systems and are not supported.
Same Wi-Fi network
Your iPhone Duo and the TV need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. Zap finds the TV by itself; there is nothing to type in.
A code on the TV, once
The first time you connect, the TV shows a 6-digit pairing code that you type into Zap. After that it connects on its own.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Does Zap work on iPhone Duo?
Yes. Zap is a universal iPhone app, so it installs and runs on iPhone Duo like any other iPhone.
Which TVs can I control?
Any television running Google TV or Android TV, including most Sony, TCL, Hisense, Xiaomi and Philips models, Chromecast with Google TV and NVIDIA Shield. Samsung, LG and Roku are not supported.
Do I still need the TV's own remote?
No. Zap gives you the full button set, so it replaces a lost or broken remote for everyday use.
Does it need Bluetooth or line of sight?
Neither. Zap talks to the TV over your Wi-Fi network, so it works from anywhere in the room.
Is there a pairing code?
The first time only. Android TV and Google TV show a 6-digit code on screen; you type it once into Zap and the TV is remembered.
What if the TV is switched off?
Zap can wake many TVs over the network. Turn on Network Standby (also called network/remote control) in the TV's settings so it can listen while off.
Is Zap free?
Yes. The full remote is free and needs no account. An optional Premium removes ads and unlocks extras such as macros and multiple TVs.
Does it work on other iPhones and iPad?
Yes. Zap runs on iPhone and iPad; iPhone Duo is simply one more supported device.
